Match Report
The fact that the beautiful third goal by Richarlison was set up by the centre back combination of Marquinhos and Thiago Silva speaks volumes about the mind-boggling level of technical skill possessed by this Brazil team.
From the front to the back, they were all in it, playing with South Korea and dishing out harsh punishment. Their brilliant first-half performance, although being against weak competition, served as a reminder of why Brazil is the tournament favourite despite their sluggish start.
The best of the four goals came from Richarlison, who built up to it by juggling the ball on his head. The Tottenham forward, who scored an incredible overhead kick against Serbia, seems to be vying for the title of tournament goal of the year. However, there was plenty to like about the others as well.
Raphinha skinned his opponent to set up the opportunity for the opening goal, and Vinicius Jr. took control of the ball under his control and manoeuvred it around four South Korean players on the goal line. For the fourth goal, a Real Madrid player took the role of the provider. Lucas Paqueta was on the move when his exquisite, lofted centre found him.
There were plenty more special moments in between, such as the dancing celebrations that included their manager in the dugout and the crowd-surprising showmanship. Brazil as we know them existed here.
